Branch and central retinal vein occlusion are common retinal vascular disorders, second only to diabetic retinopathy in frequency of occurrence. They are both easy disorders to diagnose using clinical techniques. For this reason, investigations into the value of the electroretinogram (ERG) in these disorders have focused on prognosis, not diagnosis.
