Reading is a language-based activity. As such, there is frequently an overlap between developmental language impairments and reading disabilities. Evidence of a relationship between these developmental disabilities has come from two perspectives. One has been the study of the language development of children with reading disabilities, and the other has been the investigation of the reading outcomes of children with spoken language impairments.
