The Functional Development and Integration of the Dorsal and Ventral Visual Pathways: A Neurocomputational ApproachAbstract
In this chapter we discuss evidence from computational, brain imaging, and behavioral studies relating to the development of the dorsal and ventral visual pathways. This evidence indicates that (1) for both pathways some aspects of function are delayed in development relative to others and (2) the two pathways may be less integrated during infancy than in later life. We discuss some of the factors that contribute to these differential timetables of development and some of the possible consequences thereof.
